This quote is about living with chronic illness.  Your IndeLife Occupational Therapist will help you to live independently and gracefully with your chronic illness and that challenges that it can pose to your daily life.  If you are coping with a chronic illness you may find that it is impacting your life in a number of ways including your movements, ability to think, ability to manage pain, social relationships, work life, home life, ability to care for your children, and/or participation in recreational activities.

How can IndeLife help you manage your chronic illness?

  • Assess your daily living needs in your home and or work environments. Your Occupational therapist may suggest modifications to those environments that will help you to continue your activities as independently as possible.
  • Help and training in performing your daily activities including dressing, bathing, cooking, and eating
  • Mobility and Balance Assessment
  • Assessment and training in the use of Assistive Devices for mobility and self-care
  • Set up services such as food delivery, housekeeping, or personal support for those tasks that you are unable to manage independently
  • Teach you exercises to improve your balance, posture, strength, and joint flexibility
  • Help you develop coping strategies, behaviours, habits, routines, and lifestyle adaptations to support physical and mental health and well-being
  • Provide Education and Guidance for Caregivers and Family Members
